Lime Stone

What are we doing?

What does the blue and red paper tell us?

What is your conclusion about putting limestone on pasture?

  1. In the pictures we were mixing limestone and vinegar. We tested if it would fizz.
The red paper turned blue if what you were testing is alkaline and the blue paper would turn red if what you were testing is acid.
Also in the weekend I asked dad about the limestone and he said that pasture is usually about a 4 or a 5 on the alkaline and acid cart so if you spray limestone on it the pasture turns to a 6 which is about where you want it to be.
I would like to study more about limestone, I think looking for fossil would be fun and a trip to cave stream would be fun if the waters down.

    2. we are mixing an acid vinegar
      and an alkaline lime/limestone
blue paper to red is acid
      red to blue is alkaline
lime increses the ph level in soil so only some plants need lime to keep the ph level even shh

  2. We are putting vinegar on limestone to see if it will dissolve.
If the red turned blue it would tell u that its alkaline and if blue turned red it would tell u that its acid
When u crush it and put it on paticks it makes the grass grow for cows and gives it cluciam.
also they put it on dairy farm lanes to proctect there hoves.

  3. We were crushing up limestone then poring vinegar over the limestone.
With the courlerd papers we could if was alkaline or acid.
Overall we thought if we put limestone in vinegar it will turn alkaline.
